Bill Roberts
Bill Roberts, an engineer from Birmingham, Ala., is one of the nation’s leading scholars on Heddon lures. His collection - profiled in Southern Living and TNN magazines- is regarded as one of the world’s most complete. This carefully assembled display of angling history traces the evolution of Heddon lures and products from the very beginning. He has been a Heddon collector 41 years and is an active member of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club. This book is Bill’s first foray into publishing, and the research for this project has taken years to complete. He even went as far as casting a circa 1902 Slopenose into the old Millpond in Dowagiac – just for the experience. He credits the inspiration for this book to his love of fishing - and of old tackle - but most of all to his wife and daughters. Bill is always seeking new items for his collection and welcomes any opportunity to examine or purchase early tackle, especially Heddon.
